Through song and story Gaye shares her first-hand experiences and insights in the struggle for equality, from embracing the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King, sitting-in and picketing, to the Black Power Movement and Malcom X, in order to find her own path on the journey to self-acceptance, empowerment and freedom.

Join us for an inspiring evening at the Montgomery County Art & History Museum as we celebrate two remarkable exhibits: the Blues Music Through Art showcase featuring the works of Ken Pease and Anne Waldrop, and a special installation from the Christiansburg Institute.
The reception will feature live music that captures the spirit of the blues, along with light hors d'oeuvres. You’ll have the unique opportunity to explore the powerful visual representations of blues music by Pease and Waldrop while also discovering the rich history of the Christiansburg Institute, a cultural heritage nonprofit dedicated to preserving African American history and culture in Southwest Virginia.
The Christiansburg Institute’s installation emphasizes their mission of community education, intergenerational empowerment, and responsible stewardship of African American culture in the region.
